Calling upon the Prophet and the imams (also referred to as istighathat al-nabi wal-aāimmah) is allegorical, not literal. The Noble Qurāan teaches people to worship and seek help from Allah (ā iyyaka naābudu wa iyyaka nastaāin ā); however, the allegorical seeking of help is permitted in the Noble Qurāan. For example, in the story
